PSG Overcome Barcelona in Champions League Thriller
Paris Saint-Germain produced a strong attacking display to secure a 4-2 victory over Barcelona at the Parc des Princes, with Doué leading the charge for the French side.
The hosts began aggressively, using their high-pressing approach to disrupt Barcelona’s attempts to build attacks from the back.
Khvicha Kvaratskhelia came close to opening the scoring early, hitting the post, while Doué and Ousmane Dembélé also tested Barcelona goalkeeper Joan García.
PSG eventually broke the deadlock in the 38th minute after intercepting Barcelona’s attempt to play out from defence. Doué drove towards the penalty area before firing a low shot into the bottom-left corner.
Barcelona responded after the interval, with Xavi Espart equalising in the 55th minute through a powerful near-post finish following an assist from Fermín López.
The visitors appeared to gain momentum, but Lucas Hernández restored PSG’s lead in the 72nd minute with a towering header from a corner.
Barcelona captain Lamine Yamal then produced an impressive individual effort in the 79th minute, beating Warren Zaïre-Emery before squeezing the ball past goalkeeper Matvey Safonov to make it 2-2.
However, PSG responded almost immediately. Vitinha controlled a clearance on his chest before unleashing a superb volley into the bottom corner in the 81st minute.
Fabián Ruiz completed the scoring five minutes later, arriving at the back post to convert Achraf Hakimi’s low cross and seal the 4-2 victory.
The result strengthened PSG’s position in the Champions League league phase, with the French side reportedly moving to nine points from three matches.
Liverpool Stage Stunning Comeback Against Villarreal
At Anfield, Liverpool produced a remarkable fightback to defeat Villarreal 4-3 after falling two goals behind in the opening half.
Villarreal stunned the home crowd when Georges Mikautadze scored in the fourth minute before Sergi Cardona doubled the visitors’ advantage in the 29th minute.
Liverpool responded in the 36th minute as Alexis Mac Allister headed home from a Kostas Tsimikas corner to reduce the deficit.
The Reds completed their first-half comeback in stoppage time when Rio Ngumoha delivered a well-weighted pass for Ronald Araujo, who finished to make it 2-2.
Liverpool returned for the second half with renewed intensity, and Ngumoha again proved influential. The youngster beat Cardona before setting up Mac Allister for a close-range finish in the 65th minute, giving the hosts their first lead of the match.
Florian Wirtz extended Liverpool’s advantage three minutes later with a left-footed effort to make it 4-2.
Villarreal refused to surrender, however, as Tani Oluwaseyi converted Ayoze Pérez’s assist in the 87th minute to set up a tense finish.
