Founder of Omega Fire Ministries, Apostle Johnson Suleman, has stirred controversy after questioning Christian clerics who claim to have visited heaven multiple times, with his remarks attracting attention amid the ongoing debate surrounding Pastor Arome Osayi and accounts of heavenly encounters.

Key Highlights

  • Apostle Johnson Suleman questions preachers who claim to have visited heaven several times.
  • In a sermon, he accused unnamed clerics of lying about seeing biblical figures in heaven.
  • His remarks are being linked online to the controversy surrounding Pastor Arome Osayi.
  • Suleman did not mention Osayi by name in the quoted portion of the sermon.
  • The comments have reignited debate on extraordinary spiritual testimonies in Christian circles.

Suleman expressed disbelief at claims by preachers who say they have travelled to heaven and returned to earth, challenging the credibility of accounts in which clerics reportedly describe repeated visits to the spiritual realm.

In a sermon, the popular preacher questioned how some ministers could claim to have visited heaven several times, particularly those who allegedly say they had such experiences within a particular year.

“In this generation, you will hear somebody say, I have gone to heaven five times. Which heaven did you go to? I heard somebody saying, this year, when I went to heaven. So, he goes to heaven every year,” Suleman said.

He went further to accuse unnamed clerics of making questionable claims about their spiritual experiences, expressing astonishment at what he considered the boldness with which some preachers presented such accounts.

“When I went to heaven this year, I said, eeeh! These people are bold oo. The way they lie. When I got to heaven, God now showed me. I saw Paul and Solo. Eeeeh! You dey lie oo,” he added.

Link to Arome Osayi Controversy

The remarks have generated attention on social media, particularly because of their perceived connection to discussions surrounding Pastor Arome Osayi and accounts of encounters with heaven.

Although Suleman did not mention Osayi by name in the quoted portion of his sermon, a post circulating online characterised his comments as a direct call-out of the preacher over claims that he visited heaven and returned.

The controversy has brought renewed attention to the subject of heavenly encounters, with questions emerging over how such experiences should be understood and whether claims of repeated visits to heaven should be accepted without scrutiny.

Suleman also challenged accounts in which preachers claim to have encountered biblical figures during their alleged journeys to heaven. He referenced figures such as Paul and Abraham while questioning the authenticity of some of the stories being circulated.

His remarks appeared to reflect his frustration with what he considers exaggerated or fabricated spiritual testimonies, although he did not identify all the individuals whose accounts he was criticising.

The cleric also recounted an experience he associated with a 40-day fast, claiming that people fell when they approached him.

He further narrated an incident in which people reportedly fell in a room where Christians were praying after he entered.

However, Suleman did not provide details in the quoted remarks to independently establish the circumstances surrounding the experiences he described.

Debate Over Spiritual Testimonies

The development has sparked fresh debate about the growing prominence of extraordinary spiritual testimonies in some Christian circles, where claims of divine encounters, supernatural revelations and visits to heaven can attract significant public attention.

While some believers regard such accounts as expressions of personal faith, others argue that extraordinary spiritual claims should be examined carefully, particularly when they are presented as established facts.

The controversy also raises questions about the responsibility of religious leaders when sharing experiences that followers may interpret as evidence of spiritual authority.

For now, Suleman’s comments have placed the spotlight on the competing claims and debates surrounding heavenly encounters, even as the preacher’s exact target in the quoted sermon remains unclear.
