- NDC in Ughelli North threatens mass protest if a truck belonging to its chieftain, Ambassador Alex Agbah, is not released.
- The truck, carrying goods worth millions of naira, was reportedly seized on October 16, 2026.
- The party accuses the Ughelli North council of political victimisation over Agbah’s role in the October 3 anti-hunger protest.
- NDC leader Chief Obiuwevbi Ominimini dismisses claims linking the seizure to mobile advertising or unpaid levies.
The party gave the warning on Monday, at a press briefing in Ughelli, where its leaders accused the local government council of political victimisation.
It alleged that the seizure was connected to Agbah’s participation in the NDC and his organisation of a 10,000-man anti-hunger protest held in the town on October 3, 2026.
The truck was reportedly seized on October 16, 2026.
‘A Public Protest Is Coming’
Speaking at the briefing, NDC leader, Chief Obiuwevbi Ominimini, said the party is prepared to organise a larger demonstration if the council fails to release the vehicle, insisting that any protest would be conducted within the confines of the law.
“The local government is hereby put on notice that a public protest is coming. The 10,000-man march is a little thing compared to what is coming, and the state will be shocked,” he said.
Ominimini, however, expressed hope that the council Chairman, Jaro Egbo, would resolve the matter amicably by releasing the truck.
The NDC leader said the truck contains goods worth millions of naira, but explained that Agbah is in the best position to provide an exact valuation.
He lamented that the continued detention of the vehicle has disrupted Agbah’s business, noting that the truck should have returned to Lagos to replenish its stock.
According to him, the seizure has caused financial losses for the businessman at a time when traders were already facing economic difficulties.

Party Dismisses Mobile Advertising Claim
Ominimini also dismissed suggestions that the seizure is related to mobile advertising or unpaid local government levies, insisting that the council must follow established procedures in enforcing its revenue laws.
“There is no issue of mobile advertising anywhere. This truck does not carry mobile advertising,” he said.
He argued that where a business or vehicle was suspected of violating a local government regulation, the relevant authorities should serve the necessary notices and follow due process before taking enforcement action.
He also questioned the alleged seizure of mobile phones belonging to Agbah’s wife and business manager, arguing that people should not be prevented from documenting official actions.
The NDC leader maintained that the party considers the incident an act of political victimisation because of Agbah’s political affiliation and his role in organising the October 3 protest.
He appealed to Nigerians and residents of Delta State to speak out against what he described as an infringement on the rights of business owners.
“If something happens to one person and you feel that because it has not happened to you, you will not be concerned, you may be the next victim,” he said.
The party called on the Ughelli North council chairman to release the truck to prevent the dispute from escalating into a mass demonstration.
