  • Auditor-General and Accountant-General to earn ₦1,114,666.36 each.
  • No implementation date announced yet.

The Head of Service, Abdullahi Shehu, disclosed the new salary structure, while expressing appreciation to the governor for what he described as his continued commitment to improving the welfare of civil servants in the state.

The New Pay Figures

According to Shehu, the approved monthly salary for the head of service is ₦1,430,830.75, while permanent secretaries will receive ₦1,203,851.55.

He added that the auditor-general for the state and local governments and the accountant-general would each earn ₦1,114,666.36 monthly.

The head of service urged the beneficiaries and other civil servants to reciprocate the government’s gesture through greater dedication, discipline, commitment and improved service delivery.

He also called for political support for the All Progressives Congress (APC), using the slogan “Daga Sama Har Kasa,” meaning from top to bottom.

Shehu further disclosed that the state government has introduced various welfare packages for civil servants, adding that more initiatives were being developed to improve their well-being and strengthen the public service.

Context and Unanswered Questions

The salary review comes amid rising living costs and growing pressure on state governments to improve workers’ welfare while maintaining effective public service delivery.

The adjustment is expected to improve the remuneration of senior public officers responsible for coordinating government policies, managing public finances and ensuring administrative continuity.

The inclusion of the auditor-general and accountant-general also brings senior financial management officials within the revised structure, covering key positions involved in public expenditure oversight and financial administration.

However, the state government is yet to provide details of the implementation date or indicate whether further salary adjustments will be extended to junior and middle-level civil servants.

The development is part of the Buni administration’s stated efforts to improve workers’ welfare and strengthen the state’s public service.
