A resident of one of the attacked communities who spoke on condition of anonymity on Saturday said the armed pastoralists stormed his community at about 2:30 a.m. on Friday and started shooting sporadically, resulting in the loss of no fewer than six persons.
He explained that there is no conflict between the affected communities and the herders to warrant the attacks.
Residents Living In Fear
Similarly, an eyewitness, Mr. Thomas Anawah, disclosed that for some time now, residents of the attacked communities have been sleeping with one eye closed for fear of the marauding herders.
“We have drawn the attention of the law enforcement agents severally to the menace of the armed herders, yet no solution in sight,” he lamented.

When contacted, the Chairman of Ukum Local Government Area, Jonathan Modi, declined responding to calls and text messages regarding the incident.
However, a senior staff of the council who pleaded anonymity confirmed the development.
