Igbu Terhemen Found Unconscious in Makurdi
According to sources, Terhemen left his residence on Tuesday to watch a local football match at Kanshio settlement in Makurdi but did not return home.
Concerned by his prolonged absence, family members and friends reportedly began searching for him.
He was subsequently found unconscious within the premises of the NNPC Depot along Otukpo Road at about 2 a.m. on Wednesday.
Family Alleges Assault
A family source who spoke on condition of anonymity said Terhemen had visible injuries when he was found.
The source alleged that he may have been assaulted with a dangerous object, although the circumstances surrounding the injuries have not been independently established.
According to the source, Terhemen was taken to a medical facility for treatment but reportedly died while receiving medical attention.

NDC Calls for Investigation
The leadership of the Nigeria Democratic Congress expressed shock over the reported death of its Fiidi Ward chairman.
The party called on relevant security agencies to investigate the circumstances surrounding Terhemen’s death, identify those responsible if foul play is established and ensure that anyone found culpable faces the law.
Reacting to the incident, the NDC Chairman in Benue State, Hon. Ohini Ojeba, urged law enforcement agencies to urgently investigate the matter.
Ojeba described Terhemen as a committed member of the party who, according to him, contributed to the growth and development of the organisation in the state.
Police Yet to Receive Report
When contacted, the Benue State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Peter Aondongu, said the command was yet to receive a report on the incident.
The police position means that, at the time of publication, there was no official confirmation from the command establishing how Terhemen died or whether his death resulted from a criminal attack.

The circumstances surrounding Igbu Terhemen’s death remain unclear.
