Tinubu Independence Day Address Scheduled for 7am
The Tinubu Independence Day address will be broadcast nationwide at 7:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 1.
According to the announcement, television and radio stations, as well as other electronic media organisations, are expected to hook up to the network services of the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) and the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN) for the President’s address.
The broadcast is part of the official programme for Nigeria’s 66th Independence Anniversary.

Nigeria became independent from British colonial rule on October 1, 1960.
The 66th anniversary provides an opportunity for the country to reflect on its journey since independence, including its political, economic and social development.
The Federal Government has adopted the theme, “From Reforms to Stability: Consolidating Nigeria’s Renewed Hope for Shared Prosperity,” for the 2026 anniversary.
Tinubu Expected to Address National Issues

Tinubu is expected to address the country against the backdrop of ongoing government reforms and programmes, as well as the broader economic and social issues affecting Nigerians.

NTA, FRCN to Broadcast Tinubu’s Address
The Presidency has directed relevant broadcast organisations to connect to the NTA and FRCN network services for the nationwide address.

Independence Anniversary Celebration to Be Low-Key
The Federal Government had earlier announced that activities for the 66th Independence Anniversary would be low-key.
The official programme includes an Independence Day Public Lecture on September 30, followed by the President’s nationwide broadcast on October 1.
The government has also declared Thursday, October 1, 2026, a public holiday to mark the anniversary.
President Tinubu’s Independence Day address at 7:00 a.m. will therefore form a major part of the official activities marking Nigeria’s 66 years of independence.
