The Nigerian actors reportedly touched down at the Accra International Airport on Wednesday, ahead of the production of Lil Win’s new film, ‘A Journey to Africa’ (Nzulezu).
The movie, produced by Lil Win’s Wezzy Empire, is set to spotlight Nzulezu, Ghana’s historic stilt village located on Lake Tadane.
Nzulezu is known for its houses built over the lake and is home to more than 500 residents. The location has also previously been linked to efforts toward UNESCO recognition.
Videos circulating on social media showed the Nollywood stars arriving with their luggage, laughing and posing at the airport as they prepared to join Lil Win for the cross-border production.
The project brings together major Nollywood and Kumawood talents, with many seeing it as a major collaboration between the Nigerian and Ghanaian film industries.
However, what was expected to be a celebration of the collaboration quickly became controversial on X as users debated Lil Win’s efforts, his personality and the relationship between Nigerians and Ghanaians.
@TheCitizen wrote “Lil Win seriously needs government support. He is doing what a whole ministry cannot do and has not been able to achieve.

Another X user, @giant_baron, acknowledged Lil Win’s contribution to Kumawood but criticised his conduct. “You see the problem with lilwin?
“He is putting a whole lot into kumawood but because he is all over the place about issues he is supposed to deal with maturely, Ghanaians are failing to see it..bad character for a good job done..sad to notice”
Meanwhile, Lil Win’s flashy welcome for the Nigerian stars also became a talking point.

The arrival of the Nollywood stars also reignited comments about perceived hostility between Nigerians and Ghanaians online.
