Social media users have rallied behind Chadwick Boseman’s widow, Taylor Simone Ledward Boseman, amid the latest development in the ongoing Chadwick Boseman estate dispute involving the late actor’s family.
The controversy erupted online after reports surfaced that Boseman’s brothers are seeking to have Simone removed as administrator of his estate, while she has pushed back against allegations concerning the handling of his assets and her involvement in a documentary about the Black Panther star.
Some social media users questioned why the family dispute has continued, while others urged an independent review of the estate rather than a prolonged legal battle.
Reacting to the controversy, @alfxdo wrote “This one’s rough. He died at 43 with no will so the court just split everything 50/50 between his wife and his parents. Now the brothers want her taken off as administrator because they say she’s not being straight about the residuals and that documentary.”
The user added: “She just fired back saying she’s already handed over the big pieces including those $3.4 million in company shares plus extra money to the nephews out of her own pocket, and she’s calling the lawsuit a PR stunt.”
@alfxdo further argued that “at this point they probably just need someone independent to go through the remaining IP money instead of dragging it out in public.”
Another social media user, @tejithegoat, appeared to defend Simone, writing: “This is confusing, but I believe there is a misunderstanding. Taylor Simone was very supportive to Chadwick so I doubt she would do anything contrary to his faith.”
Meanwhile, @LOBAHO1 said the Chadwick Boseman estate dispute had been developing for months.
“This estate dispute has been unfolding since July. Boseman died without a will, so the court split the estate 50/50 between his widow and his parents.
“His brothers now say assets still haven’t been fully distributed and want her removed as administrator; she says she’s already paid out over $5 million and calls the lawsuit a PR move.”
@justmercy__ also weighed in, pointing to the complications that can arise when a celebrity dies without a will.
“Family disputes like this after someone dies without a will almost always drag on because residuals and likeness rights keep generating money long after the initial cash is gone. If she already sent over $5 million, the court just needs to audit the rest and close it.”
Defending Boseman’s widow, @KingsleyEm69 wrote: “His brothers weren’t there in those last years like she was. She nursed him, kept his secret, protected his legacy. Now they want to sue her? Let the woman breathe.”
@ARIAREIGN180683 focused on the importance of estate planning, writing: “This is why a will is important. Once the person is gone, family and spouse will always clash over the estate. Chadwick wouldn’t have wanted this.”
