The incoming Manchester United coach Erik ten Hag has guided Ajax to win the 2021-22 Eredivisie season after cutting Heerenveen to size in a resounding 5-0 victory at the Johan Cruyff Arena.
The Dutch becomes the fifth permanent manager to coach Manchester United following Sir Alex Ferguson’s retirement in May 2013 after spending a remarkable 27 years at Old Trafford.
Though the Ajax gaffer has a final game on Sunday against Vitesse at the Gelredome Stadium before he departs for England, he was able to beat Roger Schmidt to the title with a four-point lead over PSV Eindhoven who also recorded a win against NEC Nijmegen in the matchday33 fixture.
Erik ten Hag’s move from the Dutch top-flight league to the English Premier League has been indented on a good note as he delivered the 36th Eredivisie trophy to De Godenzonen.

Meanwhile, Manchester United have congratulated their incoming head coach Erik ten Hag after he won the 36th Eredivisie trophy for Ajax on Wednesday.
“Ten Hag has a reputation as an attack-minded manager and that has certainly been evident with his side this term. Ajax have an impressive goal difference of 79, having scored 96 goals in the league so far,” United wrote on its official website.
“Perhaps even more impressive is the defensive resilience of Ten Hag’s team. In 33 matches, Ajax have conceded a mere 17 goals, 15 fewer than the next nearest team (Feyenoord).
“Off the back of the Dutchman’s latest success, we look forward to welcoming Ten Hag to Old Trafford next season. Congratulations, Erik,” the statement read.
