Members of the 2000 graduating set of Government Secondary School, Wukari in Taraba State, have dismissed a petition by retired Major General A.T. Ibrahim alleging that Senator David Jimkuta submitted forged secondary school credentials to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Ibrahim, who contested the APC primary election for Taraba South Senatorial District, reportedly petitioned the party’s national chairman on September 21, 2026, seeking Sen. Jimkuta’s disqualification over alleged forgery and false declaration in documents submitted to the party and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
In the petition titled: “Petition for the Disqualification of Senator David Jimkuta for Submitting Forged Documents to INEC and Also for Making a False Declaration on Oath to the Party and INEC,” Ibrahim alleged that the senator submitted forged National Examinations Council (NECO) certificates as part of his credentials for the 2027 election.

However, members of the GSS Wukari 2000 set, at a press briefing in Jalingo on Wednesday, disputed the allegation, insisting that Sen. Jimkuta was their classmate and graduated from the school with them.
The group, led by Haruna Magaji and Galeya Gembo, included Zakaria Luka, Emmanuel Audu, Manasseh Wunuji and Habibu Isyaka.
Magaji said the group returned to GSS Wukari to examine available school records following the allegations contained in Ibrahim’s petition.
He said the 2000 set was among the pioneer students of the school to sit for the NECO examination, adding that Jimkuta’s name appeared on the records of students who graduated that year.
“We have once again visited the GSS to be sure of what Gen. Ibrahim has petitioned against the senator. We collected the gazette and conducted a thorough check. Senator David Jimkuta’s name is number 98 on our list,” Magaji said.
He said the group decided to speak out because Jimkuta was a member of their graduating set.
“We want to make it very clear, not only to Gen. A.T. Ibrahim but to everybody, that Senator Jimkuta graduated together with us during the set 2000 at GSS Wukari,” he said.
Magaji also recalled some of the school officials during their time, including the late Mr. Adda Ali, who served as principal, while Magai Tsokwa and Lady Dankaro were the head boy and head girl respectively.
The group urged Ibrahim to verify information before making allegations, arguing that he could have visited GSS Wukari, which they said was located close to his residence, to examine the relevant records.
“We are not happy with what Gen. Ibrahim has done. He lives in Wukari, and his house to the school where we graduated is just a stone’s throw. He can simply take a walk to GSS and make findings himself,” Magaji said.
The former classmates also alleged that the petition could distract Sen. Jimkuta from his political activities, while citing what they described as his empowerment initiatives in Taraba South.
Magaji appealed to Ibrahim, whom he described as an elder in the society, to verify information before making allegations.
The group said it preferred to protect members of their old school community, adding that Jimkuta had also shown concern for Ibrahim’s welfare.
