The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has introduced a controlled process allowing candidates who have genuinely lost access to their registered phone numbers or email addresses to update their details.
The board announced the new arrangement on Monday, through its official X account, stating that the service commenced on September 21, 2026.
According to JAMB, the update service is available only at designated Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres, including applicable state offices.
The measure is specifically targeted at candidates who can demonstrate a genuine loss of access to the GSM number or email address originally linked to their JAMB records.
Candidates seeking to use the service will be required to undergo identity verification and biometric authentication before any changes can be made.

JAMB stressed that the service can only be accessed once by an eligible candidate.
“Please note: The service can be accessed only once and is subject to strict identity and biometric verification,” the board said.
The examination body also warned candidates against using agents, unauthorised individuals or unofficial channels to process the update.
“For your security, use only designated JAMB centres and avoid unauthorised persons or channels,” it said.
JAMB said the initiative forms part of its JCARE and JAMB Updates programmes.
Under the revised arrangement, eligible candidates can request changes to their registered GSM number, email address or both, provided they complete the required verification process at an approved centre.
The board reiterated that the service is restricted to genuine cases and that candidates will be permitted to access it only once.
