The banned Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has slammed Enugu State Governor, Peter Mbah, over reports accusing his administration of deploying thugs to disrupt rallies organised by opposition parties in the state.
IPOB condemned the development in a weekly address by Chris Nwaọgụ, Head, Fourth Administration
of the Directorate of State.
The pro-Biafra group said that what is happening in Enugu State is unacceptable, adding that the group is working to ensure that the use of criminal elements to intimidate political opponents comes to an end.
Nwaogu insisted that IPOB will boycott the 2027 election, following the failure of the federal government to list and hear the appeal filed by its convicted leader, Nnamdi Kanu, to challenge his conviction.

“IPOB will boycott the general elections in January. A boycott is not a licence to disrupt rallies. A boycott is not a licence to unleash thugs.
“That is the same script the APC government used to demonise IPOB over Monday sit-at-home. They created chaos, blamed us, and sold the lie to the world. That will not be allowed to happen again.
“The method we will use to ensure compliance with the election boycott will be revealed nearer the time — precisely so that desperate politicians cannot hijack a noble cause and turn it into mayhem, as they have always done,” he said.
Also, IPOB condemned the death of 37 arrested suspected illegal miners in the custody of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Niger State.
According to the group, the incident demonstrates what the Nigerian state does when it holds young people and answers to nobody.
