The newly inaugurated Siakpere’s Team for Oborevwori 2027 has commenced grassroots mobilisation in Okpe Local Government Area of Delta State in support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, Senator Ede Dafinone and other All Progressives Congress (APC) candidates ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The group made its position known on Friday at Aghalokpe, Okpe Local Government Area, during the inauguration of the team and the flag-off of its grassroots mobilisation campaign for the re-election of Governor Oborevwori.

Key Highlights

  • Siakpere’s Team for Oborevwori 2027 begins grassroots mobilisation in Okpe LGA.
  • The group endorses Tinubu, Oborevwori, Dafinone and other APC candidates for 2027.
  • The team says it will mobilise support across communities, wards and polling units.
  • APC State Chairman Solomon Arenyeka urges members to intensify grassroots engagement.
  • The group highlights infrastructure, education and healthcare projects in Okpe.
  • Cash grants are distributed to 40 residents at the event.

The team, led by Barrister John Ewhubare Siakpere as Director-General, pledged to take the campaign for the APC candidates to communities, wards and polling units across Okpe.

Speaking on behalf of Governor Oborevwori, his Special Adviser on Political Matters, Chief Ramson Ikweki, commended Siakpere for his contributions to the development of Okpe Kingdom and Delta State.

Ikweki said the governor expected Okpe to deliver strong support for Tinubu, Oborevwori, Dafinone, Ramson Onoyake and Hon. James Augoye in the 2027 elections.

He said Oborevwori remained committed to what he described as the judicious use of state resources and the spread of development across communities.

Ikweki urged the people to remain united and support government programmes in education, healthcare, employment and infrastructure. He also assured the gathering that concerns raised by residents would be conveyed to the governor for appropriate action.

APC Leaders Rally Grassroots Support

The APC State Chairman, Chief Solomon Arenyeka, who was the Special Guest of Honour, described support groups as important instruments for grassroots mobilisation.

Arenyeka said such groups would be strengthened and coordinated under a broader APC support structure to mobilise voters across wards and polling units. He charged members of Siakpere’s Team to take the campaign to every community, ward, polling unit and household.

“We do not want to hear 60 per cent. We do not want to hear 69 per cent. We want to hear 100 per cent,” Arenyeka said, urging members to demonstrate commitment to the party and its candidates.

He said effective mobilisation could not be achieved from home, stressing the need for members to engage directly with the electorate at the grassroots.

The APC State Secretary and Chairman of the occasion, Chief Efe Uko, commended Siakpere for his support for Oborevwori’s emergence as governor in 2023.

Uko described the Oborevwori administration as one that had delivered what he called visible democratic dividends across Delta State, citing projects in Okpe as examples. He specifically mentioned the Southern Delta University campus at Orerokpe and the proposed teaching hospital at Osubi.

According to Uko, the establishment of the university campus had changed the educational landscape of Orerokpe, which he said had remained without a higher institution despite being one of the oldest local government headquarters in the state.

Uko expressed optimism that the Orerokpe campus could eventually become a full-fledged university before the end of the governor’s tenure. He urged the people of Okpe to support the Oborevwori administration and other APC candidates in the 2027 elections.

Support From Local Lawmaker

Member representing Okpe State Constituency in the Delta State House of Assembly, Hon. James Augoye, thanked Siakpere for establishing the support group and investing his time and resources in the initiative.

Augoye said the mobilisation was significant because Siakpere was not a career politician but had chosen to support what he believed would advance good governance and development.

He said the state had witnessed changes in the last three years, including what he described as improved capacity to meet its obligations and sustain development programmes. Augoye called for patience and continued support for the Oborevwori administration, saying development required sustained effort and continuity.

“Development does not happen overnight. We must give the administration the opportunity to consolidate the progress already made and do even more for our people,” he said.

Earlier, Siakpere, Director-General of the group, said the inauguration marked the formal commencement of the team’s mobilisation for Oborevwori’s re-election, adding that the group was motivated by what he described as the impact of the governor’s M.O.R.E. Agenda across Delta State.

Siakpere highlighted infrastructure projects, including flyovers, road expansion and other urban and rural projects, while citing developments in Okpe such as the dualisation of Esezi Road, the Southern Delta University campus and healthcare investments. He said the team had resolved to work with other supporters to secure renewed support for Oborevwori in 2027.

The team also endorsed Senator Dafinone, Ramson Onoyake and Augoye, alongside President Tinubu and Governor Oborevwori.

The newly inaugurated executive comprises Siakpere, Director-General; Hon. Peter Obire, Chairman; God’spower Odjeboro, Vice Chairman; Onomakpome Emuobo, Secretary; Mrs Ejiro Owe, Treasurer; Dr Stephen Richards, Financial Secretary; Ebami Peace, Publicity Secretary; Elizabeth Ebami and Ufuoma Izobo, Coordinators; Mrs Empkor Doris, Social Secretary; Prince Umerah O. Patrick, Assistant Secretary; and Mr Mathias Erhabor, Youth Leader. Elders of the group include Mr Paul Erhabor and Hon. Akpojohare Donald.

The ceremony also featured the disbursement of cash grants to 40 residents of the community. Beneficiaries were urged to deploy the funds judiciously to strengthen their livelihoods, expand their economic activities and improve their standard of living.

The event was attended by the Commissioner for Special Duties, Hon. Ejiro Etacheruro; Chairman, Delta State Civil Service Commission, Chief Roseline Amioku; Chairman, Okpe Local Government Council, Chief Isaiah Esiovwa; Chairman, Local Government Service Commission, Hon. Joseph Othirhue; APC Chairman, Okpe LGA, Hon. David Agbaminor; Chief Mike Affe; Executive Assistant to the Governor on Special Duties, Mr Collins Iboyi; party leaders; community stakeholders; women and youth groups, among others.
