The Federal Fire Service (FFS) has contained a fire outbreak at Aliko Dangote University of Science and Technology (ADUSTECH), Wudil, Kano State, preventing the blaze from spreading and saving property estimated at ₦680 million.
The incident occurred on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, at the university’s architecture department, where files and other materials were reportedly stored.
The Kano State Controller of the Federal Fire Service, Sadiq Usman-Mahmud, said the agency received a distress call from the university’s security personnel at about 11:38 a.m.
He said firefighters from the Federal Secretariat station were immediately deployed to the university to tackle the outbreak.
The operation was carried out in collaboration with the Kano State Fire Service, with the responding teams deploying two medium water jets to bring the fire under control and stop it from spreading to other sections of the building and nearby property.
According to the fire service, property estimated at about ₦700 million was involved in the incident.
The service said assets valued at approximately ₦680 million were successfully saved, while property estimated at ₦20 million was destroyed by the fire.

Preliminary findings attributed the incident to damaged electrical wiring. No casualty was reported in the incident.
After extinguishing the fire, firefighters inspected the affected area to ensure that no further danger remained.
The Federal Fire Service urged institutions, businesses and members of the public to conduct regular checks on electrical installations and promptly replace faulty or damaged wiring.
The service said such preventive measures could help reduce the risk of electrical fires and minimise damage to lives and property.
