Political support groups affiliated with the Renewed Hope Ambassadors have been urged to intensify their engagement with Nigerians by highlighting the achievements of President Bola Tinubu’s administration ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Key Highlights

  • Renewed Hope Ambassadors have urged support groups to intensify grassroots mobilisation ahead of the 2027 general elections.
  • Delta State Coordinator Funkekeme Solomon gave the charge during a strategic meeting with representatives of more than 35 support groups in Asaba.
  • Solomon urged the groups to highlight the achievements of President Bola Tinubu’s administration and explain its policies to Nigerians.
  • He said the Tinubu administration inherited serious economic and security challenges when it assumed office in May 2023.
  • He cited the removal of fuel subsidy, proposed state police and student loan scheme among the administration’s major policies.

The Delta State Coordinator of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors, Funkekeme Solomon, gave the charge in Asaba, Delta State, while addressing representatives of more than 35 support groups during a strategic meeting.

Solomon said many Nigerians are yet to fully appreciate the economic and security challenges inherited by the Tinubu administration when it assumed office in May 2023.

He said the country was in a critical situation economically and in terms of security, stressing that bold decisions were required to rescue the nation from the brink.

“The country was in intensive care economically and security-wise. Bold decisions needed to be made to bring Nigeria back from the brink.

“From the removal of fuel subsidy, the proposed establishment of state police and the introduction of the student loan scheme, which has brought genuine relief to parents and students, Nigeria is now on the trajectory towards returning to prosperity,” he said.

He charged the leaders of the support groups to enlighten Nigerians on the benefits of the administration’s policies and the positive outlook for the country.

“Our job is to enlighten the people on the dividends of those bold actions and the positive outlook ahead so they can make a more informed decision come 2027.

“Nigeria is in the process of reconstruction, and the task requires time to be fully accomplished. That is why President Tinubu should be voted for a second term to enable him complete the job,” Solomon said.

On security, he said the constitutional process towards allowing states to establish their own police forces would give states greater control over their security architecture.

According to him, once the process is completed, states would be able to take greater responsibility for their security and overcome some of the challenges associated with the existing centralised police structure.

Solomon clarified that the Renewed Hope Ambassadors is not running the affairs of the All Progressives Congress (APC), but is providing support for the party and the Tinubu administration.

He said the group’s members were “foot soldiers” responsible for propagating the achievements of the president and mobilising support for his administration.

He also cited the student loan scheme and what he described, as the stability of the academic calendar of Nigerian universities since 2023 as some of the administration’s achievements.

The meeting, he said, is part of efforts to strengthen grassroots mobilisation and ensure that Nigerians were adequately informed about the policies and programmes of the Tinubu administration ahead of the 2027 elections.
