• NACOL/BMATT holds seminar for innovation, logistics

Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Lieutenant-General Faruk Yahaya has tasked Regimental Sergeant Majors (RSMs) to improve on the level of discipline and regimentation in as well as sustain the traditions and cultures of the service.
The COAS gave the charge while opening the RSMs Convention 2022 in 81 Division, Lagos. In attendance at the four-day event are principal staff officers from Army Headquarters, Corps Commanders, senior officers and over 250 RSMs drawn from various formations and units.
The convention is featuring several lecture presentations with the theme “Capacity Building for RSMs in the Nigerian Army for Enhanced Regimentation.” It was organized to enhance the capacity of the RSMs as custodians of army discipline and regimentation.
Yahaya, represented by the Chief of Administration (Army), Major-General Usman Mohammed, said discipline and regimentation are pivotal to professionalism in the Army.
He further stated that enhancing these qualities are in consonance with his command philosophy premised on Professionalism, Readiness, Administration and Cooperation (PRAC).
The COAS therefore reminded the RSMs that they are vested with the responsibility to ensure that the cherished traditions, customs and ethics of the Nigerian Army are sustained. He tasked them to live up to their responsibilities, considering the Army’s engagements in ongoing operations to tackle security challenges across the country.
Earlier in his welcome address, the General Officer Commanding 81, Major General Umar Musa, urged participants to take advantage of the convention to develop themselves, adding that the training package was carefully designed to address contemporary challenges at regimental levels.

He expressed optimism that the participants will be better equipped with the capabilities to effectively discharge their responsibilities in their respective formations and units.
Presenting the first lecture titled “Building the Capacity of RSMs through Proficient Training”, Brigadier General Shuaibu Nuhu was enlightened the participants on the responsibilities of RSMs, urging them to redouble their effort in maintaining discipline and regimentation in the Army.
Meanwhile, the Nigerian Army College of Logistics (NACOL) in conjunction with British Military Advisory and Training Team (BMATT) held a seminar for innovation and enhancement of Nigerian Army logistics.
The Logistics Estimate Process Seminar and Workshop with the theme “Enhancing Logistics Support in Contemporary NA Operations” commenced Monday 9 May, 2022 at the TY Buratai Hall, Nigerian Army College of Logistics Permanent Site Ojo.
While welcoming participants to the event, the Commandant NACOL, Major General Martin Enendu expressed delight over the seminar.
The Commandant told participants that the BMATT Logistics Estimate seminar is aimed at bringing home new innovations and ingenuity based on the experience of the British Army in asymmetric warfare.
The Commandant also thanked the COAS, Lt Gen Faruk Yahaya for rejuvenating the collaboration of the college with BMATT and numerous interventions in ensuring that NACOL permanent site remains the centre of Excellence in Logistics training.
“The College is to produce Efficient Logisticians capable of planning and executing Logistics Support for the Nigeria Army in joint and combined operations at formations and higher levels using modern management concept and techniques,” he said.
He further urged participants to take advantage of the seminar to improve on logistics support planning capabilities.
In attendance were NACOL Faculty and Administrative Staff Officers, participants of Logistics Staff Course 19/22, Military Officers from Units and Formations within 81 Division NA AOR were also drawn to witness the ceremony.
