The Adamawa State Government has warned members of the public against fraudsters allegedly collecting money from unsuspecting individuals under the guise of securing or re-acquiring shops at the newly constructed Jimeta Ultra-Modern Shopping Mall.
The warning was issued by the Adamawa State Ministry of Commerce, Trade and Industry following reports of individuals demanding payments from members of the public while claiming that such payments would guarantee the allocation or re-acquisition of shops at the facility.

Adamawa Govt Denies Authorising Shop Payments
The Commissioner for Commerce, Trade and Industry, Joab Haggai Sahma, issued the warning in a statement signed by the ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Dr Abdulazeez Adamu Buba.
According to the statement, the ministry had received reports that some individuals were demanding money from members of the public, claiming that the payments were required to secure or re-acquire shops at the Jimeta Ultra-Modern Shopping Mall.
The Commissioner described the reported activities as fraudulent and stressed that the ministry had not authorised any individual or group to collect money for the allocation or re-acquisition of shops at the facility.
He urged members of the public to remain vigilant and avoid dealing with anyone demanding payment for shop allocation, regardless of the position or identity such individuals claim to represent.

Public Advised to Report Suspected Fraud
The ministry advised anyone approached by suspected fraudsters not to make any payment and to immediately report the matter to the ministry or appropriate security authorities.
The government said the warning was necessary to protect members of the public from falling victim to fraudulent activities linked to the allocation of shops at the Jimeta Ultra-Modern Shopping Mall.
Prospective shop owners and members of the public are therefore advised to rely only on official information from the Adamawa State Ministry of Commerce, Trade and Industry regarding the Jimeta Mall shop allocation process.
