A 40-year-old man identified as Ogbeni Goggo has reportedly died in a suspected suicide incident at the Ebrumede Flyover Roundabout in Uvwie Local Government Area of Delta State.
The incident, which reportedly occurred late Wednesday night, came to light after his wife, alarmed by his failure to return home, embarked on a search that ended with the discovery of his lifeless body.
According to an account shared on Facebook by activist Israel Joe, on Friday, Goggo left home on Wednesday but did not return, prompting his wife to become worried because his disappearance was reportedly unusual.
The family reportedly began efforts to locate him, including attempts to reach him on the telephone, but none of the calls was answered.
Joe said the search continued throughout Thursday without success.
However, on Friday morning, the deceased’s wife reportedly went to the Ebrumede Police Station to formally report her husband missing.
It was at the police station, according to the account, that officers showed her a photograph of a deceased man reportedly found at the Ebrumede Flyover Roundabout.
The woman reportedly identified the body as that of her husband.
The discovery reportedly left her devastated, with Joe stating that she collapsed upon learning the fate of her husband.
The deceased was reportedly found at the roundabout alongside a bottle of a substance believed to be Sniper. Some persons who reportedly witnessed his distress raised an alarm and attempted to assist him before the police arrived.
His remains were subsequently evacuated to Agbaro Mortuary, according to the account.
Joe said the deceased had been married for about three years and had no child at the time of his death.
The tragedy has left the deceased’s family and friends mourning what Joe described as a painful and avoidable loss.

Confirming the incident, the Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, Bright Edafe, said the circumstances surrounding the man’s death had been confirmed, although the reason for the alleged suicide could not be immediately established.
The incident has renewed concerns over the devastating impact of financial hardship and emotional distress on individuals facing severe economic challenges.
