The Director General and Chief Executive Officer of the National Institute for Sports (NIS), Philip Shaibu, has congratulated Edo Queens on their emphatic 7-0 victory over AS Garde Nationale in the WAFU-B Women’s Champions League qualifying tournament in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso.
The Nigerian champions made a commanding start to their Group B campaign on Tuesday, producing a dominant display that saw them overwhelm their opponents and record one of the tournament’s biggest opening wins.
Shaibu praised the players and their technical crew for the impressive performance, describing the result as a reflection of the quality, preparation and determination within Nigerian women’s football.
He urged the team to maintain the same intensity and focus in their remaining fixtures as they continue their pursuit of qualification for the CAF Women’s Champions League.
