Manchester City striker Erling Haaland has surprised fans by ditching his trademark long blonde hair for a military-style buzz cut ahead of the new Premier League season.
The 26-year-old revealed the transformation on social media with the caption: “New season, new trim,” as he prepares for another campaign with City.
Haaland had not worn short hair since his Borussia Dortmund days and appeared to embrace the change after initially looking nervous as a hairdresser made the first cut.
The Norway international also turned the haircut into a light-hearted moment by showing off pictures of his previous hairstyles and joking about possible new looks before settling on the buzz cut.
His new appearance received mixed reactions during video calls with City team-mate Jack Grealish, Oasis star Noel Gallagher and former City manager Pep Guardiola.
Gallagher joked that Haaland now looked about 17, while Grealish said he loved the new style and joked that the striker looked about 10 years old.
Guardiola also approved of the transformation, joking that Haaland was lucky to have hair and saying he would love to have it himself.

Haaland then sought the opinion of former Sweden international Zlatan Ibrahimovic, recalling Ibrahimovic’s previous warning that he should never cut his hair because his strength was supposedly in it.
Ibrahimovic, however, was far from impressed, jokingly asking Haaland whether he had lost a bet before telling him to block and erase his number.
The haircut comes as Haaland prepares for the new Premier League campaign, with Manchester City facing Bournemouth in their opening fixture on Sunday.
Beyond the attention surrounding his new appearance, Haaland will be hoping the fresh look accompanies another prolific season in front of goal as City begin their latest title campaign.
