Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has congratulated Team Rivers for emerging champions of the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu Inter-Senior Secondary Schools Debate Championship.
The governor described the students’ victory as a major achievement and evidence of the intellectual ability, confidence and preparedness of young people in Rivers State to compete successfully at the national level.
In a statement issued on Friday by his spokesman, Onwuka Nzeshi, Fubara commended the students for their eloquence, critical thinking and teamwork.
He also praised their teachers and coaches, as well as the Rivers State Ministry of Education, for the guidance and support that contributed to the team’s success.
“This victory is a source of immense pride to all Rivers people. It shows that our investment in education and human capital development is yielding results. Our children have once again proven that they are among the best in the country.
“We are proud of you and we will continue to support programmes that build the minds of our young people,” the governor said.
Fubara assured that his administration would continue to create an enabling environment for academic and extracurricular activities in schools across the state.

He said the government would provide the necessary support to help students develop their talents and compete effectively in future competitions.
The governor also encouraged other students in Rivers State to draw inspiration from Team Rivers’ achievement and pursue excellence in their academic and extracurricular activities.
The grand finale of the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu Inter-Senior Secondary Schools Debate Championship was held on Thursday at the Obi Wali International Conference Centre in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
The competition brought together senior secondary school students to test their abilities in public speaking, critical thinking, research and debate.
