The new National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Senator Iyorchia Ayu has enjoined the youth of the country to take up the challenge of leadership, stating that power is not given on a platter gold.
He urged the youth to come out and south for power through legitimate means as that remains the only way they can be relevant in the polity The Trumpet gathered.
Senator Iyorchia Ayu stated this in his address at the inauguration of the new PDP National Working Committee, (NWC) in Abuja.
According to the former President of the Senate during the Nigeria Third Republic, his administration is going to usher in an era of internal democracy and create an equal sense of belonging for the youths and women in the party to build a robust system charged to take back power in 2023.
The former Internal Affairs Minister during the Obasanjo’s regime, Dr. Ayu noted that a platform will be created for the youths and women to be active decision-makers of the party and not limited to the machinery of election-winning and mobilization alone.
Furthermore, the Benue-born academia and a one-time Chairman Jos chapter, Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, reiterated his plans to revive the People Democratic Institute, PDI while giving room for new ideas, robust discussions, and feasible policies geared towards improving the economy of the country and the livelihood of the Nigerian citizens.

The national chairman assured the party stakeholders that the new national working committee is prepared to strengthen all organs of the party by engaging in teamwork and consultation for national interest while it creates the room for Nigerians to join its folds to grow the party’s membership.
Dr. Senator Iyorchia Ayu is optimistic that his administration will ensure that the party takes back power from the All Progressives Congress, APC, in 2023
