The Adamawa State Police Command has foiled an alleged attempt to abduct a six-year-old girl in Mayo Belwa local government council of the state, arresting an 18-year-old suspect in connection with the incident.
The incident occurred on August 18, 2026, after police operatives attached to the Mayo Belwa Divisional Headquarters received credible information about an alleged attempt to forcefully abduct the child.
According to the Command, the suspect, identified as Abdullahi Sa’adu, 18, of Anguwan Eti Salat, Mayo Belwa, allegedly attempted to abduct Nora Luka, 6, of Anguwan Tsakuwa, also in Mayo Belwa.
The police said a patrol team swiftly responded to the information and intercepted the suspect, taking him into custody.
The victim was rescued unhurt and subsequently handed over to her parents for safety.
The Commissioner of Police, Adamawa State Command, Kabir Umar Hassan, commended the police patrol team and members of the community for their prompt response and professionalism.
In a statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to protecting children and other vulnerable members of society across the state.

The Command said investigation into the incident was ongoing, adding that the suspect would be arraigned in court upon completion of the investigation.
The police also urged parents, guardians and members of the public to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious movements or activities involving children to the nearest police station.
