The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a suspected member of the Eiye Confraternity and recovered a locally made single-barrel pistol during an intelligence-led operation in Mushin.
According to a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, Lagos State Command, Ikeja, on August 14, 2026, SP Abimbola Adebesi, the suspect, identified as 24-year-old Segun Alani, was arrested by operatives following credible information about alleged cult-related activities around Ogunmokun Under-Bridge, Mushin.
The statement also states that operatives mobilised a surveillance team to the area after receiving the information and subsequently apprehended Alani.

A search of the bag in the suspect’s possession reportedly led to the discovery of a locally made single-barrel pistol concealed inside it.
The suspect is currently in police custody and is said to be providing information to investigators as the Command continues its probe into the alleged cult activities and the source of the firearm.
The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Tijani Fatai, psc, mnips, commended the operatives for their prompt response and intelligence-driven operation.
He reiterated the Command’s commitment to tackling cultism, violent crimes and the proliferation of illegal firearms across the state.
The CP also warned cultists and other criminal elements to desist from criminal activities or risk facing the full weight of the law.
The Police Command urged residents to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious activities to the authorities.
