Nigerian singer Peter Okoye has opened up about a painful chapter of his personal life, alleging that members of his family pressured his then-girlfriend, Lola Omotayo-Okoye, to terminate her pregnancy.
Peter became emotional while recounting the experience in a recent video shared on his Instagram page, describing the period as one of the most defining moments of his life.
The singer recalled that Lola became pregnant when he was 27 and said he decided to publicly announce the pregnancy himself because he did not want the information to come from another source.
According to him, there were too many stories at the time involving celebrities and “baby mamas,” and he wanted to take responsibility for his relationship and unborn child.
Peter said he announced the pregnancy at the Soundcity Awards after he and his twin brother, Paul Okoye, had received an award as P-Square.

He explained that after dedicating the award to God, their fans and everyone who had supported the group, he dedicated it to Lola, whom he described as the mother of his unborn child.
Peter alleged that his announcement immediately triggered a reaction from his brothers, Jude and Paul, who reportedly walked out and told him that revealing the pregnancy could damage P-Square’s career.
He further claimed that his family strongly opposed Lola and went as far as insisting that she should terminate the pregnancy.
Peter also alleged that an email was forged in an attempt to convince him that the unborn child was not his and to portray Lola as someone who was trying to trap him with the pregnancy.
The singer became emotional while recounting the incident, suggesting that the experience had left a lasting impact on him.
Peter also spoke about his late mother’s relationship with Lola, disputing the narrative that she never accepted his wife.
According to him, his mother eventually understood his pain and offered to intervene in the dispute by asking his brothers to apologise to him.
Peter said some members of the family eventually apologised, while others did not.
He specifically claimed that his elder brother, Jude, and Paul did not apologise, while another brother, Henry, and the first son of the family did.
The singer further revealed that his mother had reconciled with Lola long before their marriage and had even begun referring to her as “our wife.”
“Before I got married to my wife, my mom was already addressing Lola as ‘OUR WIFE,’” Peter said.
He alleged that a false narrative was later created suggesting that his mother never had a relationship with Lola, insisting that they had reconciled well before his wedding.
Peter’s latest revelations have added another dimension to the long-running tensions within the Okoye family, particularly the disagreements surrounding his relationship with Lola and the eventual birth of their child.
The P-Square brothers have endured a turbulent relationship over the years, with their personal and professional disagreements repeatedly becoming public.
Paul also appeared to respond to Peter’s latest account in a post on X dedicated to their late mother.
“Unfortunately you’re not here to defend yourself. Continue resting Mum,” Paul wrote.
His response appeared to indicate disagreement with aspects of Peter’s account and suggested that he believed their late mother was no longer available to give her own side of the story.
Peter and Paul, who rose to fame as P-Square, reunited professionally in 2021 after years of separation but later experienced another fallout.
Peter’s latest account has once again thrust the brothers’ family dispute into the spotlight, with his allegations about Lola, the pregnancy and their mother’s eventual acceptance of his wife generating fresh reactions online.
