The Rivers State Police Command has arrested three suspects linked to the murder of two officers of the command in June 29, 2026 at Aluu in Ikwerre Local Government Area of the state.
This was contained in a statement issued on Tuesday by the state Police Public Relation Officer, ASP Blessing Agabe.
The statement recalled that the officers were attacked, while they were on a stop and search operation.
Agabe said following the tragic killing of the two police officers and the theft of their service AK-47 rifles, the state Commissioner of Police, Olugbenga Adepoju, directed that all operational and intelligence assets of the command be deployed to ensure the arrest of the perpetrators and the recovery of the stolen rifles.
Acting on the directive of the commissioner of police, three members of the gang responsible for the murder were arrested.
The suspects were identified as Maduabuchi Emeka, alias Doctor, a native of Egbata Community in Omoku Local Government Area, Chinedu Owhor, a native of Akabuka, also of the same local government, but resident in Aluu community, and Kamachi Joe, a native of Egbata Community of Omoku Local Government Area.

The police revealed that the exhibit recovered from the suspects are three AK- 47 rifles and one scorpion rifle.
The statement further said that intensive efforts are ongoing to apprehend the fourth member of the gang, who is currently at large.
Meanwhile,the Commissioner of Police Olugbenga Adepoju has commended the police officers involved in the investigation for their professionalism, courage, gallantly and dedication, noting that the breakthrough demonstrates the command’s resolve to ensure that those who attack police officers or engage in violent crimes have no hiding place in Rivers State.
He reaffirmed the command’s unwavering commitment in protecting lives and property and bringing all criminal elements to justice.
The commissioner of police further warned all those involved in crime that the long hands of the law will catch up with them, hence they should immediately desist or face the full weight of the law.
He emphasized that Rivers State is not a haven for criminalsz stressing that the command remains resolute in identifying, arresting and prosecuting anyone who threatens the peace and security of the state.
