President of the Nigeria Volleyball Federation (NVBF), Engineer Musa Nimrod, has praised the Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Adewale Adeniyi, MFR, for his sustained investment in the growth and development of volleyball in Nigeria.

Nimrod gave the commendation following Nigeria’s historic triumph at the 2026 African U-18 Boys’ Volleyball Championship, where the national team defeated hosts Egypt in the final in Alexandria to claim the continental title.

The NVBF President, who also serves as President of the Confederation of African Volleyball (CAVB) Beach Volleyball Commission, described Adeniyi as a dependable partner whose support has significantly contributed to the progress of the sport since the current federation leadership assumed office.

According to him, the Nigeria Customs Service has remained instrumental in strengthening domestic volleyball by supporting the elite league, making it more competitive and creating a better platform for players to develop their skills and gain exposure.

He noted that the Customs Service has also continued to support Nigeria’s national volleyball teams, contributing to their improved performances on the continental stage.

“I want to thank the Nigeria Customs Service under the leadership of CGC Adewale Adeniyi, MFR, for the tremendous support it has given the Nigeria Volleyball Federation,” Nimrod said.

“We will continue to seek the support of the Nigeria Customs Service in the years ahead because the Comptroller-General has remained one of the federation’s strongest pillars.”

Nimrod further applauded the Customs boss for creating employment opportunities for volleyball players through recruitment into the Nigeria Customs Service, describing the initiative as a major boost to the careers and welfare of athletes.

“It has been brought to my attention that a significant number of volleyball players have been employed by the Nigeria Customs Service,” he said.

“The Nigeria Volleyball Federation is delighted with this development, and we look forward to sustaining and strengthening our partnership with the Service for the continued growth of volleyball in Nigeria.”

He expressed confidence that the collaboration between the federation and the Nigeria Customs Service would continue to yield positive results, helping to produce more champions and elevate the profile of volleyball across the country.
