Troops of ‘Operation FANSAN YAMMA‘ have foiled multiple kidnap attempts in Zamfara State, rescuing the Rector of the Federal Polytechnic, Kaura Namoda, Aminu Yusuf, alongside 22 other victims during separate operations.

According to the Joint Task Force (North West), the first incident occurred in the early hours of July 28, 2026, after troops received a distress call about an attack on Tsohon-Tasha Street in Kaura Namoda Local Government Area.
The terrorists reportedly stormed the residence of the rector, killing his private security guard and injuring another resident, before attempting to abduct Yusuf and members of his family.
Troops responded swiftly, engaged the attackers in a gun battle, and forced them to retreat under superior firepower, successfully rescuing the rector and his family without harm.
In another operation later the same day, troops on night patrol responded to reports of an ongoing kidnap attempt in Tungan Dorawa community, Barkeji Village.
Despite navigating difficult terrain, security personnel intercepted the fleeing terrorists, engaged them, and foiled the abduction.

The troops also confronted another group of terrorists in the same community who were attempting to kidnap a prominent businessman, Alhaji Azaria.
The intervention forced the attackers to abandon their mission, leading to the rescue of Alhaji Azaria and 21 other civilians who had been abducted from nearby homes.
Meanwhile, troops arrested a 45-year-old suspected terrorist informant, identified as Falalu Yusuf, who is believed to have aided the attackers.
He has since been handed over to the appropriate authorities for investigation and possible prosecution.
The Joint Task Force (North West) commended the courage, vigilance, and professionalism of the troops, reaffirming its commitment to sustaining military operations aimed at restoring peace and improving security across Zamfara State and the wider North-West region.
