The army has declared a soldier, Private Mohammed Yusuf Amutu, wanted over his alleged involvement in the illegal sale and diversion of military uniforms to terrorists and other criminal elements.

The announcement was made on Thursday, by the Headquarters of the Nigerian Army Ordnance Corps (NAOC) through its Assistant Director of Army Public Relations, Major Oluwatope Aluko.

According to the army, Amutu, who was attached to the Nigerian Army Ordnance Kits Factory, absconded from his duty post on June 3, 2026, before preliminary investigations linked him to the alleged unauthorized supply of military uniforms.

The army said the soldier has since been declared wanted by the appropriate military authorities, while efforts are ongoing to track and apprehend him for a full investigation and possible disciplinary action in line with military regulations.

Major Aluko stressed that the army maintain a zero-tolerance policy against misconduct, indiscipline, and any act capable of undermining national security or the operational effectiveness of the force.

He warned that any military personnel found aiding terrorists, criminals, or other non-state actors through the unauthorized sale, diversion, or distribution of military uniforms, accoutrements, or other controlled items would face the full weight of both military and civil laws.

The army also appealed to the public to provide credible information that could lead to the arrest of the wanted soldier by reporting to the nearest military formation or any security agency.

Reaffirming its commitment to accountability and professionalism, the Nigerian Army Ordnance Corps said it would continue to strengthen internal control measures, thoroughly investigate all allegations of misconduct, and ensure that anyone found culpable is held accountable.
