Thousands of beneficiaries of the N-Power Batch C1 and C2 programme have renewed their appeal to the Governor of Imo State and Chairman of the Progressive Governors’ Forum (PGF), Hope Uzodimma, urging him to urgently intervene to secure the payment of their outstanding stipends, which they say have remained unpaid for up to nine months.

The appeal was contained in a letter dated July 22, 2026, and signed by the South-East Coordinator of N-Power Batch C1 and C2 Beneficiaries, Emmanuel O. Ujowundu.
In the letter, the beneficiaries called on Governor Uzodimma to leverage his position within the ruling party to engage the federal government and facilitate the immediate release of the unpaid allowances.
According to the group, beneficiaries from the six geopolitical zones completed all programme requirements, including biometric verification and deployment to their assigned places of service, but many are still owed several months’ stipends.
The letter recalled that under former Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Sadiya Farouq, beneficiaries received three months of outstanding allowances, while her successor, Betta Edu, approved payment for one additional month and reportedly assured them that the remaining arrears would be cleared alongside the reopening of the N-Power portal.
However, the beneficiaries said those assurances were not fulfilled following changes in the ministry’s leadership.
They also noted that another former minister, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, had similarly promised that the outstanding stipends would be settled before his exit from office.
The group stated that it has pursued several lawful avenues to seek payment, including petitions to relevant government agencies, consultations with public officials, repeated visits to Abuja and legal action before the National Industrial Court.

Despite these efforts, they said they have remained peaceful and patient, while awaiting government’s action.
The beneficiaries lamented that the prolonged delay has caused severe financial hardship, with many struggling to meet family responsibilities, repay debts, sustain businesses and continue their education.
They expressed confidence that Governor Uzodimma’s intervention would draw the attention of the appropriate federal authorities and help resolve the lingering issue.
The group further argued that settling the outstanding stipends would restore hope to more than 1.5 million young Nigerians who participated in the programme, strengthen public confidence in government promises and reinforce the administration’s commitment to youth empowerment.
They added that resolving the issue would also boost confidence in Nigeria’s democratic process ahead of the 2027 general elections.
