Aston Villa have completed the signing of Argentina international Alejandro Garnacho from Chelsea on a season-long loan, with the agreement including a conditional obligation to make the move permanent.
The Premier League club confirmed the deal on Thursday, strengthening Unai Emery’s squad ahead of the 2026/27 campaign.
According to reports, the conditions required to trigger the permanent transfer are expected to be easily met, while the overall package, including the loan fee, matches Chelsea’s valuation of the winger.
Garnacho joined Chelsea from Manchester United for £40 million last summer but is leaving Stamford Bridge less than a year after his arrival.
The 22-year-old had reportedly not returned for Chelsea’s pre-season training as he sought to complete a move away from the club.

His switch to Villa comes shortly after the two clubs concluded a British-record £117 million transfer involving attacking midfielder Morgan Rogers, who moved in the opposite direction to Chelsea.
Known for his pace, direct running and attacking flair, Garnacho is expected to provide additional firepower for Villa as the club prepares for another challenging domestic and European campaign.
Villa will hope the Argentine winger quickly rediscovers the form that made him one of the Premier League’s most exciting young talents during his time at Manchester United.
