Nigeria’s Super Falcons have received a major boost ahead of the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) with the arrival of forward Folashade Ijamilusi at the team’s training camp in Casablanca, Morocco.

Ijamilusi, who plays for Chinese club Liaoning Shenyang Shenbei Hefeng, became the 23rd player in camp after arriving on Tuesday afternoon.
The former junior international was one of Nigeria’s standout performers at the last WAFCON, scoring twice, including the equaliser in the dramatic 3-2 comeback victory over hosts Morocco in the final.
However, midfielder Deborah Abiodun and forward Gift Monday were delayed after their scheduled flight from the United States was cancelled due to technical issues. The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has since secured new flight arrangements for both players.
The reigning African champions have continued preparations at La Noria Club in Casablanca before relocating to Rabat, where they will play their Group C matches against Malawi, Egypt and Zambia.
Nigeria’s official arrival meeting with the Confederation of African Football (CAF) and the Local Organising Committee is scheduled for July 25, while the Super Falcons will begin their title defence against Malawi next Tuesday.
Nigeria’s U-20 men’s national team, the Flying Eagles, have also settled in Yamoussoukro, Côte d’Ivoire, ahead of the 2026 WAFU B U-20 Championship.
The defending champions arrived in Abidjan on Monday before travelling by road to Yamoussoukro, where they are camped at the Trio Corridor Hotel.
Coach Aliyu Zubairu’s side will open their campaign against rivals Ghana’s Black Satellites on Monday. The Flying Eagles defeated Ghana 2-1 in the final of the previous edition in Lomé to lift the regional title.
Nigeria will then face Togo on July 30 before taking on Burkina Faso on August 2 as they seek to retain the championship.
