United States President Donald Trump joined FIFA President Gianni Infantino to present the FIFA World Cup trophy to Spain after the European side defeated Argentina 1-0 after extra time to capture the 2026 FIFA World Cup title.
The trophy presentation took place on Sunday at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, moments after Spain secured a dramatic victory over the defending champions to become world champions once again.
Spain dominated large spells of the final but struggled to break down Argentina’s resilient defence during regulation time.
The breakthrough eventually came in the 106th minute of extra time, when Ferran Torres converted a headed assist from Nico Williams, scoring the only goal of the match and sealing Spain’s long-awaited triumph.
Following the final whistle, Trump joined Infantino on the podium for the medal and trophy presentation as Spanish players celebrated with their coaching staff and supporters.

The victory earned Spain their second FIFA World Cup title, ending a 16-year wait since their historic success at the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa.
For Argentina, the defeat brought an end to their quest to defend the title they won four years earlier, as they fell just short of retaining football’s biggest prize.
The final also marked the conclusion of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, a tournament jointly hosted by the United States, Canada and Mexico over the past month.
Spain’s triumph capped an impressive campaign, with the European champions producing consistent performances throughout the competition before lifting football’s most prestigious trophy for the second time in their history.
