Bayelsa United have appointed experienced Nigerian coach Abdul Maikaba as the club’s new Technical Adviser, with the Bayelsa State Government charging him to lead the team back to the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) following its relegation.

The unveiling ceremony took place on Thursday, with Bayelsa State Deputy Governor, Dr. Peter Akpe, introducing Maikaba as the man entrusted with restoring Bayelsa United to Nigeria’s top-flight league after a disappointing relegation campaign.
Maikaba will be assisted by respected Nigerian coach Ngozi Elechi, a former Go-Round FC manager, as the club begins preparations for the new Nigeria National League (NNL) season.
Speaking during the unveiling, Dr. Akpe said Governor Douye Diri, who expressed disappointment over the club’s relegation, has directed the Dr. Peter Singabele-led Interim
Management Board to ensure Bayelsa United secures promotion back to the NPFL at the earliest opportunity.

Maikaba arrives with an impressive coaching résumé spanning more than two decades in Nigerian football. During his career, he has managed several top clubs, including Wikki Tourists, Plateau United, Akwa United, Enyimba FC, Rangers International, and Kano Pillars.
Widely regarded as an attack-minded tactician, Maikaba has enjoyed notable success throughout his coaching career.
