Professor Rufa’i Alkali, former Special Adviser on Political Affairs to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, has congratulated Vice President Kashim Shettima on his re-nomination as the All Progressives Congress (APC) vice presidential candidate for the 2027 general elections.

  • He praised Shettima as an experienced statesman, administrator and consensus-builder who has contributed to effective governance.

In a statement dated re,eased in Abuja, Prof. Alkali described President Bola Tinubu’s decision to retain Shettima as his running mate as a demonstration of confidence in the vice president’s loyalty, competence and commitment to the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

According to him, the renomination also reflects the productive working relationship between Tinubu and Shettima since they assumed office in May 2023.

Prof. Alkali said continuity in leadership would inspire confidence among party members, supporters and the electorate, while reinforcing the administration’s resolve to sustain its programmes and reforms.

He described Shettima as an experienced statesman, accomplished administrator and bridge-builder whose intellectual depth, strategic insight and consensus-building skills had strengthened governance and the administration’s engagement with stakeholders across the country.

The former presidential adviser further said Tinubu’s decision to retain Shettima was one of the most strategic moves ahead of the 2027 elections, arguing that it would consolidate the existing partnership, promote unity within the APC and improve the party’s chances of securing another mandate.

“On behalf of my family, friends, political associates and well-wishers, I extend my heartfelt congratulations to His Excellency, Senator Kashim Shettima,” Prof. Alkali said.

He prayed for Allah to grant the vice president good health, wisdom, strength and guidance as he continues to serve the country.
