Troops of the Joint Task Force (North West) ‘Operation FANSAN YAMMA’ have rescued 13 kidnapped victims and thwarted planned terrorist operations during separate intelligence-led missions in Zamfara State.
The operations, conducted in Anka and Kaura Namoda Local Government Areas, were based on credible intelligence on the movement and activities of armed terrorists, according to a statement issued on Wednesday by the Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force, Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja.
The statement said troops of Sector 2 in Bagega responded swiftly after receiving reports that armed terrorists on motorcycles were advancing towards Tungan Kudaduku in Anka Local Government Area.
Supported by real-time surveillance, the troops tracked and engaged the terrorists with superior firepower, forcing them to abandon their mission and flee the area.
A follow-up search led to the discovery of a makeshift terrorist camp, where five kidnapped civilians were rescued unharmed.
In a separate operation at Ungwan Rogo in Kaura Namoda Local Government Area, troops acted on intelligence indicating terrorist activity in the area.

The soldiers engaged the criminals in a fierce gun battle, compelling them to retreat and abandon eight kidnapped victims.
Troops also recovered two vehicles during the operation.
According to the military, all 13 rescued victims have been handed over to the appropriate authorities for medical attention, profiling and further support.
Lieutenant Colonel Danja said troops are sustaining offensive operations across the North-West, maintaining pressure on terrorist groups and denying them freedom of movement.
He added that the latest successes underscore ongoing efforts to dismantle terrorist networks, rescue abducted victims and restore security across the region.
