Ex- D’Tigers player Kelechi Anuna and United States Olympic gold medalist and world volleyball star, Chiaka Ogbogu, have taken a significant step towards their union with the successful celebration of their traditional marriage introduction.
Excitedly, the mouth-watering ceremony brought together the families of the couple as the family of the groom, led by his father, Mr. Obi Anuna of Mbieri, formally visited the family of the bride, headed by her father, Henry Ogbogu of Ukpor, to declare their intention and seek the family’s blessing ahead of their traditional and church wedding ceremonies.
However, the couple earlier got engaged in Milan, marking the beginning of a new chapter in their relationship.
Shortly after the engagement, Chiaka crowned another remarkable season by winning the European Champions League title, adding to her illustrious career as an Olympic gold medalist with the United States women’s volleyball team.
The traditional ceremony was filled with prayers, cultural rites, laughter, and heartfelt moments as both families celebrated the union, reflecting the rich cultural heritage of the Igbo people and the enduring importance of family.

Ogbogu and members of the bride’s family expressed immense joy and gratitude as they witnessed their daughter take another important step towards marriage with the man of her choice.
Likewise, Anuna and the groom’s family celebrated the successful union of the two families in an atmosphere of love, unity, and thanksgiving.
Meanwhile, speaking at the colorful event, both Kelechi and Chiaka expressed appreciation to their families, friends, and well-wishers who travelled from far and near to witness the memorable occasion.
