The All Progressives Congress (APC) has formally submitted the nomination forms of President Bola Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), confirming Shettima as the party’s vice-presidential candidate for the 2027 general election.
The submission, made before INEC’s deadline for political parties to upload the names of their candidates, ends weeks of speculation over whether the ruling party would retain Shettima on the presidential ticket.
President Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Political and Other Matters, Ibrahim Masari, presented the nomination documents at the APC national secretariat in Abuja, in the presence of governors, National Working Committee members, federal lawmakers, cabinet ministers and other party leaders.
Speaking at the event, APC National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, described the exercise as the final stage of the party’s primary election process for all elective positions.
Prof. Yilwatda expressed confidence that the APC would emerge victorious in the 2027 presidential election, citing the party’s nationwide support base and the Tinubu administration’s programmes, including the student loan scheme, road infrastructure projects and agricultural interventions.
