- Group calls for respectful, fact-based public discourse on national issues.
The group made the assertion while assessing the impact of its recently revived Tweet Tuesday campaign, which focuses on coordinated online engagement to advance its self-determination campaign and encourage public discussion on constitutional rights and legal issues.
IPOB recalled that the campaign was reintroduced as part of its broader strategy to promote digital advocacy and mobilise supporters through social media platforms.
According to the group, its spokesperson, Emma Powerful, on July 6, 2026, circulated an internal memorandum directing members, coordinators, supporters and sympathisers worldwide to participate in coordinated online advocacy every Tuesday.
The memorandum stated that the campaign is aimed at advocating the immediate and unconditional release of IPOB leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, while encouraging participants to respond to narratives the group considers inaccurate.

IPOB described the initiative as a revival of the Tweet Tuesday campaign originally introduced by Kanu to promote awareness of the Biafra self-determination movement through peaceful online engagement.
The group further noted that the latest edition of the campaign generated significant online participation, leading to increased discussions surrounding Kanu’s ongoing legal proceedings and broader issues relating to the Biafra question.
According to IPOB, the campaign demonstrates the growing influence of organised, non-violent digital advocacy in shaping conversations on constitutional rights, judicial processes, self-determination and the rule of law in Nigeria.
The group maintained that, regardless of political differences, sustained public engagement through factual information and respectful dialogue remains essential to ensuring that these issues continue to receive national attention.
IPOB added that as legal proceedings continue, peaceful civic engagement and informed public discourse remain important to advancing conversations on constitutional and democratic issues.
