The Adamawa State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has called on its candidates to focus on issue-based campaigns and avoid personal attacks as the party intensifies preparations for the 2027 general elections.

Key Highlights

  • Adamawa PDP urges candidates to avoid personal attacks ahead of the 2027 elections.
  • Party advocates issue-based campaigns focused on policies and programmes.
  • Certificates of return presented to successful candidates.
  • PDP leadership stresses party unity and grassroots mobilization.
  • National manifesto expected to be harmonized ahead of the campaign season.

The resolution was reached during a high-level strategic engagement in Yola, where the party also presented certificates of return to candidates who emerged victorious in its internal electoral process.

The meeting brought together PDP candidates for the Senate, House of Representatives, and State House of Assembly, alongside local government party chairmen and secretaries. The session provided a platform to strengthen collaboration, deepen internal cohesion and adopt a unified strategy ahead of the 2027 polls.

Addressing participants, the party’s Organizing Secretary, Said Bako, described the successful conduct of the PDP’s pre-primary and primary elections as a significant milestone, noting that the party’s organizational structure remains central to its electoral success.

He urged candidates to maintain strong working relationships with party officials at all levels, stressing that effective coordination would be critical during the campaign period.

Bako further disclosed that the PDP national leadership would soon harmonize the party’s manifesto, adding that campaigns would be driven by policy proposals and programmes rather than personal attacks on political opponents or fellow party members.

“The party at the national level will soon harmonize its manifesto, and the campaign is going to be issues-based,” he said.

Also speaking, the Adamawa State PDP Chairman, Stephen Heluwa, emphasized the need for stronger synergy between candidates and the party leadership to boost grassroots mobilization and consolidate support across the state.

He called on party stakeholders to remain united, disciplined and committed to strengthening the PDP’s internal structures as preparations for the 2027 general elections gather momentum.

The meeting also featured contributions from party officials and candidates, who proposed measures aimed at improving coordination, enhancing internal democracy and expanding grassroots engagement throughout Adamawa State.

In a demonstration of party unity, the candidates pledged loyalty to the PDP, promising to respect party structures, work collaboratively with one another and support the leadership’s efforts to secure victory in the 2027 general elections.
