The National Working Committee (NWC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has approved a major overhaul of its list of candidates for the 2027 National Assembly elections, with 24 APC candidates replaced following the conclusion of the party’s internal appeal process.

According to party sources, the replacements followed recommendations by the Primary Election Appeal Committee, with the revised list reportedly endorsed by APC National Chairman Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda and National Secretary Senator Ajibola Basiru.

 

The latest review saw the replacement of additional five senatorial candidates and 19 House of Representatives candidates, marking one of the most significant post-primary adjustments by the ruling party ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Replaced Senatorial Candidates

Benue North East: Emmanuel Memga Udende replaces Gabriel Suswam.

Benue North West: Titus Tartenger Zam replaces Benjamin T. Aber.

Kogi West: Senator Sunday Karimi replaces Aro Samuel Bamidele.

Abia South: Prince Paul Ikonne replaces Edinburgh Uchenna Erondu.

Taraba North: Shuaibu Isa Lau replaces Mohammed Kabir Bello.

Ondo Central: Adeniyi Adegbonmire replaces Taiwo Fasoranti.

Ondo North: Olajide Ipinsagba replaces Gbenga Elegbeleye.

The revised list has generated political interest across the affected states, with stakeholders closely monitoring the implications of the changes ahead of the next phase of the electoral process.

Delta North Speculation

The latest development has also put to rest speculation surrounding the APC senatorial ticket for Delta North.

 

According to the information provided, the party’s internal processes have been concluded, with Dr. Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa retaining the Delta North senatorial ticket, contrary to widespread speculation that Senator Ned Nwoko would emerge as the party’s candidate.

 

Party insiders said the conclusion of the appeal process has settled internal disputes over the ticket, bringing clarity to the party’s position in the district.

 

The APC is expected to continue preparations for the 2027 elections as stakeholders await further official communication regarding the final list of candidates.
