Nottingham Forest are on the verge of appointing former Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner as their new head coach following the expected departure of Vitor Pereira.
The Austrian is understood to be close to completing a deal with the Premier League club, with only final formalities remaining before his appointment is confirmed.
Forest had initiated contact with Glasner earlier this summer after he left Crystal Palace at the end of last season, where he guided the Eagles to the UEFA Europa Conference League title after delivering the club’s historic FA Cup triumph in 2025.
Pereira was reportedly informed of the club’s decision on Tuesday night, despite having one year remaining on his contract. The Portuguese coach had recently taken part in transfer planning meetings and had already mapped out Forest’s pre-season schedule, including friendlies against Blackburn Rovers, Vitória Guimarães, Sporting Lisbon, Bayer Leverkusen, Barcelona and Udinese.
The decision marks another managerial shake-up at the City Ground, with Glasner set to become Nottingham Forest’s fifth manager in less than a year.
Pereira took charge in February after replacing Sean Dyche and successfully steered Forest away from relegation, finishing 16th in the Premier League. He also guided the club to the UEFA Europa League semi-finals, where they were eliminated by eventual champions Aston Villa.

During his brief spell, Forest recorded their biggest top-flight away win since 1995 with a 5-0 victory over Sunderland and reached their first European semi-final since 1984.
Despite those achievements, contract renewal talks with Pereira were reportedly paused last month before the club opted for another change in the dugout.
Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis is believed to view Glasner as the ideal candidate to lead the club’s push for domestic and European success, with the Austrian arriving after an impressive spell at Crystal Palace that significantly enhanced his reputation across Europe.
