Speaking after the match, NAF Rockets Head Coach, MW Michael Simon, attributed the team’s success to focused preparation despite having limited time to get ready for the competition.
“We had a late preparation, but we are familiar with the league and concentrated on areas where we had challenges, especially our backcourt defence, frontcourt defence and receiving. To the glory of God, the work we put in has paid off,” he said.
The coach revealed that his team has so far recorded five victories and suffered three defeats, with three matches still remaining in the phase.
Simon appealed for more training opportunities and support from the Nigerian Air Force leadership, expressing confidence that his side could become even more competitive.
“We are appealing to our Director of Sports and the Chief of Air Staff to give us more time for training. If that happens, we will surprise many teams in future championships,” he stated.
The coach also praised the organisers for maintaining high standards since the inception of the competition three years ago.
“The organisation has been excellent. The League Management Committee is doing a good job. We hope they can attract more sponsors to ensure the league continues to grow and maintain its quality in the years ahead,” he added.
The CGC Volleyball Premier League continues to provide a platform for discovering and showcasing volleyball talent across Nigeria, with teams battling for supremacy as the competition progresses with more exciting matches unfolding on the day 11.
