The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Kano State Command, has secured over 50 convictions and arrested more than 400 suspected drug offenders in the state within six months.
The state Commander of the agency, Dahiru Lawal, disclosed this on Thursday in Kano, during a sensitisation walk to mark the 2026 International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking.

Lawal said the command arrested both male and female suspects for various drug-related offences between January and June 2026.
He added that the agency seized over 2,000 kilogrammes of assorted illicit substances, including cannabis sativa, diazepam, pregabalin, Exol-5 and a locally known substance, called ‘suck and die’.
According to him, the command secured more than 50 convictions at the Federal High Court, with those found guilty sentenced to various jail terms.
“The agency also rehabilitated and counselled over 300 clients within the period under review,” he stated.
The NDLEA commander said the command had continued to intensify its public awareness campaigns through sensitisation programmes in schools, markets, communities and places of worship across the state.

He identified poor information sharing and lack of cooperation from some members of the public as major challenges affecting efforts to tackle drug trafficking and abuse.
Lawal warned drug dealers and traffickers to desist from the illegal trade, stressing that the agency would sustain its crackdown on criminal networks involved in the illicit business.
He urged residents to support the fight against drug abuse by providing timely information to security agencies.
The commander commended the NDLEA Chairman, retired Brig.-Gen. Buba Marwa, the Kano State government, security agencies, media and other stakeholders for their support.
He assured that the Kano Strategic Command would continue to rely on intelligence-led operations and community partnerships to curb drug-related offences and ensure a safer society.
