The troops, operating under Sector 2 of Operation FANSAN YAMMA, intensified offensive operations aimed at clearing the North West region of terrorism and banditry, achieving multiple successes through intelligence-led missions.
On 21 June 2026, armed terrorists attempted to infiltrate Tureta town in Sokoto State but were swiftly intercepted by troops responding to credible intelligence. The timely engagement forced the attackers to abandon their mission and retreat.

Following the encounter, aerial surveillance tracked the fleeing suspects to Sulubawa Gidan Kare village, where they were found moving with abducted civilians and rustled livestock.

Troops immediately launched a hot pursuit operation. Despite facing a brief ambush from the criminals, the soldiers advanced with superior firepower, forcing the attackers to disperse.

The operation led to the successful rescue of abducted victims, recovery of rustled cattle, and seizure of two motorcycles used by the terrorists for movement.
In a separate operation in the early hours of 22 June 2026, troops conducted an intelligence-driven dawn raid on a terrorist hideout in Matazu Local Government Area of Katsina State.

The surprise assault overwhelmed the armed group, resulting in the neutralisation of two terrorists, while others escaped with gunshot wounds.

A follow-up search of the hideout led to the recovery of one PKT assault rifle, one AK-47 rifle with ammunition, three motorcycles, mobile communication devices, rustled livestock, and other operational equipment used by the criminals.

These coordinated operations highlight the continued pressure mounted by TROOPS OF OPERATION FANSAN YAMMA against terrorist networks across the North West region.

Military authorities reaffirmed that operations will be sustained to dismantle criminal enclaves, disrupt logistics networks, and restore stability across affected communities.
