Adamawa State has approved projects and budgetary provisions valued at over N36.8 billion as part of efforts to accelerate infrastructure development, strengthen government operations and improve the welfare of residents across the state.

The approvals were granted during the 9th executive council meeting of 2026 presided over by Governor Ahmadu Fintiri at the Government House, Yola.

Addressing journalists after the meeting, the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Leader Leneke, disclosed that the council approved the remodelling and renovation of the Adamawa State Governor’s Lodge in Kaduna at a cost exceeding N154 million.

Leneke said the council also approved amendments to the 2026 revised budget estimates, providing additional funding from the contingency reserve for Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs).

He explained that the budget adjustment, valued at over N36 billion, is intended to support critical government functions and development initiatives.

The commissioner further announced key administrative changes approved by the council. According to him, Governor Fintiri directed the commissioner for special duties to oversee the Ministry of Livestock, while the Ministry of Energy was transferred to the Ministry of Works, restoring the Ministry of Works and Energy Development.

As part of measures to strengthen project monitoring and implementation, the governor directed all ministries to submit reports on ongoing projects through the Office of the Chief of Staff before next week.

The council also approved a contract worth more than N742 million for the construction of a pedestrian bridge across Galadima Aminu Way, popularly known as Bank Road in Yola.

Speaking on the project, the Commissioner for Works and Energy Development, Suleiman Muhammad, said the bridge would be completed within three months.

He noted that the project is aimed at improving pedestrian safety, reducing accidents and enhancing security along the busy road corridor.

Government officials said the approvals underscore the administration’s commitment to infrastructure development, effective public service delivery and the implementation of projects designed to improve the quality of life of the people of Adamawa state.
