The Lagos State Government has announced the temporary closure of the Iddo Bridge in the Ijora area of Apapa Local Government Area to allow for ongoing rehabilitation and reconstruction works.
The closure was disclosed in a statement issued on Tuesday by the Commissioner for Transportation, Mr. Oluwaseun Osiyemi.
According to the statement, the Federal Ministry of Works will carry out the installation of heavy steel bridge beams as part of the ongoing repair project. The operation, authorities said, requires the temporary shutdown of the bridge to guarantee the safety of motorists, workers and other road users.
The government stated that the entire section of the bridge would be inaccessible to vehicles during the scheduled periods.

The first phase of the closure will take place on Wednesday, June 17, 2026, from 10:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m., while the second phase is scheduled for Sunday, June 21, 2026, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Motorists have been advised to use alternative routes and plan their journeys ahead to avoid delays and disruptions.
The Lagos State Government also urged residents to cooperate with traffic management officials as rehabilitation work continues on the bridge.
