The Governor of Adamawa State, Rt. Hon. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, CON, has ordered the immediate revocation of the illegal allocation of the red brick market land along Numan Road, which was unlawfully distributed to certain traders and individuals without government approval.

In a statement issued on Tuesday and signed by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Humwashi Wonosikou, dated 16th June, 2026, the Governor said the development came to the attention of the state government after it was discovered that portions of the government-owned market were allocated by unauthorized persons without statutory approval, due process, or remittance to the state treasury.

He noted that the actions were in clear violation of the Land Use Act, the Adamawa State Urban Planning Development Authority Law, and established government procedures governing land administration.

Governor Fintiri consequently directed the Adamawa State Urban Planning Development Authority (ASUPDA) to immediately move in, take full possession of, and reclaim all affected portions of the market land.

“All illegal occupants are hereby ordered to vacate the property with immediate effect. Failure to comply will attract forceful eviction and prosecution for criminal trespass,” the Governor warned.

He also issued a strong caution to government officials and civil servants allegedly involved in facilitating, aiding, or participating in the illegal allocation or sale of government land, stressing that his administration would not tolerate such misconduct.

“Any official found culpable will be investigated, dismissed, and prosecuted. Public office is a trust, and this administration has zero tolerance for abuse of that trust,” he stated.

The Governor further advised unsuspecting residents and traders to desist from purchasing, leasing, or taking possession of land from individuals or groups not duly authorized by the Ministry of Lands and Survey and the Ministry of Commerce and Industry.

He emphasized that any transaction involving government land that does not follow approved procedures is null and void, warning that buyers risk losing both their money and the property without compensation.

“Let it be clear: any transaction on government land that does not pass through the approved channels is null and void. Government will not compensate victims of fraud. Always verify allocations with the relevant ministries before making payments,” he added.

Governor Fintiri explained that the directive was necessary to protect public assets, ensure proper urban planning, safeguard government revenue, and restore order in the state’s markets.

The order takes immediate effect.
