The lawmaker representing Ideato North/Ideato South Federal Constituency of Imo State in the House of Representatives, Ikenga Ugochinyere, has released a video which he says shows House Deputy Spokesperson, Philip Agbese, signing endorsement forms supporting his bid for the position of Minority Leader.

Key Highlights:

  • Ugochinyere releases video allegedly showing Philip Agbese signing endorsement forms.
  • Video was reportedly recorded on May 21, 2026.
  • Agbese had earlier alleged that his signature on Ugochinyere’s nomination document was forged.
  • Minority Caucus members reportedly endorsed Ugochinyere for Minority Leader position.
  • Controversy deepens over House leadership nomination process.

According to Ugochinyere, the video was recorded on May 21, 2026, and shows Agbese appending his signature to two separate endorsement forms connected to the contest for the Minority Leader position in the House of Representatives.

The development comes amid a growing controversy over the nomination process for the leadership position within the Minority Caucus of the Green Chamber.

At Thursday’s plenary session, Agbese raised a matter of personal privilege, alleging that his signature was forged on a document that nominated Ugochinyere, a member of the Action Peoples Party (APP), for the office of Minority Leader.

The House Deputy Spokesperson challenged reports claiming that he was among the lawmakers who endorsed Ugochinyere’s candidacy, insisting that he never signed any document supporting the nomination.

Speaking on the floor of the House, Agbese stated:
“Yesterday, I saw a document on the internet with my name reportedly nominating a member of this House for the post of Minority Leader.”

The controversy followed reports that 61 members of the Minority Caucus had appended their signatures to endorse Ugochinyere for the position.

However, in response to Agbese’s claims, Ugochinyere releases video evidence which he maintains clearly shows the Benue lawmaker signing the endorsement forms.

The video has since generated reactions within political and legislative circles, with observers suggesting that the footage could become central to determining the authenticity of the disputed endorsement document.

As of the time of filing this report, there has been no official response from Agbese regarding the newly released video.

The development adds another layer to the ongoing contest over the Minority Leader position and highlights growing tensions within the opposition caucus in the House of Representatives.
